Holes & Helis at Big Sky Golf Club
It's not named Big Sky Golf Club for nothing. Everything about Big Sky really is, well, big: they're big on outstanding golf facilities, big on endless blue skies, big on mountain views, and big on unique golf packages - like their Heli Golf Experience. Constructed at the base of the massive, snow-capped Mount Currie in the Pemberton valley, Big Sky is also big on making the most of its spectacular setting. This Robert Cupp-designed 18-hole course meanders along the heels of Mount Currie, which rises 8,450 feet above the fairways.
More than that though, Big Sky offers golfers the chance to actually head up Mount Currie, riding up on one of Blackcomb helicopters, and practice a few drives off the 19th hole up top (with biodegradable golf balls). Billed as the Ultimate Golf Experience (and who can argue with that?
It really does take your golf game to new heights - ahem), you then head back down for a round of golf and a meal on their patio - the perfect spot for planning your next heli golf experience.
Fins & Skins on the Vancouver Island Golf Trail
Campbell River on Vancouver Island, BC, is internationally recognized as the "Salmon Capital of the World." True story! But Vancouver Island is where you'll find the Vancouver Island Golf Trail, home to courses we like to think of as the "Island Golfing Capital of the World" (that one we made up, but we still think it true).
Even better, put the two together and you've got the "Fins & Skins Capital of the World" and some of BC's best golf. It really is the perfect place to combine your love of golfing and fishing into one unforgettable island getaway. Turn your next golf or fishing outing into a double whammy - two nights, two rounds and a four-hour fishing tour on Vancouver Island...
This is the big one that you don't want to have to say got away from you.
Birdies & Boats at Tobiano Golf
Coined the hottest market in Canadian Golf, Kamloops golf courses lie on the northern tip of the Sonoran desert, a location which one naturally equates with warm summer temperatures (resulting in an incredible eight-month plus golf season).
It's also a location perfect for those other quintessentially summer activities - boating and BBQs. Now wouldn't it be great if some imaginative sort put those three together for the ultimate summer golfing package? Oh wait, somebody just did. Why thank you, Tobiano Golf Course.
Tobiano's Kamloops Lake location makes the next half of your day an easy choice - head to the shore! Rent a patio or speedboat from Bruker Marina and explore the lake, or head up the shoreline and enjoy your surroundings.
Pets & Pars at Predator Ridge Golf Resort
If dog is man's best friend, and golf is man's best game, then surely the twain shall meet? Well Vernon BC's Predator Ridge Golf Resort - or as it's known in pet-friendly circles, Petador Ridge - certainly think so. Not only are Predator Ridge accommodations pet friendly, but they also offer "Golf With Your Dog Sundays" - with dog-friendly tee times available every Sunday after 4pm.
Golfers and their dogs get to enjoy Predator's 1,200 acre backyard, which just happens to offer a couple of world-class courses.
As the first golf courses in BC to offer this kind of initiative, Petador Ridge looks set to become dog-lovers' best course. P.S. Dogs play free.
Culture & Clubs at Talking Rock Golf Resort
If a course could talk, Quaaout Lodge & Spa at Talking Rock Golf Resort would be the one to listen to. It would tell a story rich in Indigenous history, told through the beauty of the land it lies on, Indigenous art and age-old traditions, authentic cultural activities paired with one of BC's most beautiful golf courses.
Located at the Quaaout Lodge, the proud development of the Little Shuswap First Nations Band, Talking Rock Golf Resort meanders through a mature, sandy forest before ending with a breathtaking 18th hole extending along the Little Shuswap Lake shoreline. Even more breathtaking though is the sense of culture and history which defines any visit here. The Chief and Council of the Little Shuswap Lake Indian Band welcome you to the territory known as Skwlax - the "Land of the Great Spirit."
After your round, stay and honour the land and the people who lived here long before tees and greens. Participate in a traditional Secwepemc smudging ceremony to cleans the body of negative energy, explore teepees and kekulis (underground houses), make drums and dreamcatchers, or take part in one of the many tours on offer to get to know the land, flora and fauna, as well as the history of the people who call this area home. Whatever you do at Talking Rock Golf Resort, be prepared to "hear the legend, feel the spirit." You and your golf game will be all the better for it.
